Okay I took a chance knowing that the weather was going to be cool and tried to see if the fish where bitting today. I started out later than I normally would. If it had been warmer I would have hit the lake by six. It was about 64 degrees when I left home an if I would have to guest another 3-5 degrees cooler when I got to the dock. Scared it might rain on me while I was out I desided to go to Lake Jacomo and fish off the docks. I knew fishing from the dock during the spawn would be challanging but what's good fishing without a good challange. Beside the dock shelter would keep me dry if it started to rain and I didn't feel like getting wet this morning. Sadly to say fishing was really slow this morning. The change in the weather over the last few days has forced the fish back out to deeper water. I don't imagine they have went to far out but they where not on the beds, beds-area of rocks that are in 1-8 feet of water where the female lays her eggs, that is right off the bank. When the spawn is in season you can catch fish of the beds all day long. A little tip for you there. Sudden change in water temps can really crew up a fishing trip. I'm hoping that it gets warmer within the next few days. Cold fronts like this can really screw up my chance of getting out on the lake. I love to go fishing but I hate it when it's windy an cold.
Bummer on not catching fish! I think my hubby likes to fish for the peace and quiet and catching fish is a great bonus! lol
ReplyDeleteYour cove picture reminded me of our cove at our lake. I have a picture on my Facebook page of the view of our cove from our dock. It makes my blood pressure go down 10 points just by looking at the picture, and when we pull onto our lot at the lake, I can feel instant relaxation. Thanks for posting that picture and helping me with my blood pressure:) Diana
ReplyDeleteGerald - Was this at Smithville? I didn't catch the location. I would go to feed the fish :) I do have a pink fishing rod I had to have so that Barry would take my rod too when he goes; however, a true fisherman doesn't care what color the rod is, right?
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting your pictures! They are beautiful! I can only imagine what it was like in person! You are correct that the weather can make or break an outdoor activity. It really is a bummer when you have outdoors plans scheduled for the weekend, such as fishing, and the weather does not cooperate! It is very frustrating!!!
